Martha's Vineyard Classic Car
Auto Grave Yard 2 of 2
A Grave Yard of Rusted Metal
Page 20
As I toured this old abandoned junk yard it brought back many memories of my childhood and teenage years. Moments of those happy, carefree and inocent days came to life for a fleeting moment. In their own way the old junk yards are a museum that will eventually be lost to all who have an interest in the art of the automobile. It is sad to see so many old antiques and classics  lost to mother nature but that is the way of all things. I enjoyed the quiet tour, as I reminisced about my youthful experience on the road, passing those old classics that well could have been my first perfect cruiser.  Strolling between cars I was removed from the present and reliving the 50's only to be interrupted by a stray dog who had made his home in the trunk of one of the old rusted hulks.
This old ford escaped the customizer, unfortunately not the junk yard
Popular in its day, this old 50's,Ford is at rest
Some of the cars: 49 Cadillac,1948 and 1950 Ford, 48 Pontiac, 1949,50, and 51 Mercury, 1955 Plymouth, 58 Plymouth, 55-56 Oldsmobile, Vw Bus. As these old hulks slowly rust into the ground many memories are revived. Ravaged by the weather and losing to the elements the great styles of the day are vanishing. Some of the above were grand in their day, others just plan cool drivers, unique trucks, convertibles, coupes  hardtops, you could always find something to fit your personality. Well for these great old cars its to late for the customizer, mother nature is doing her work, slowly and steadlly as it appears.
